This week I’ve just received a few new lenses in the mail, a canon nifty 50 and a macro lens and it was with great glee that I took to my miniatures for some sweet camera love. With the lenses I had available I was feeling too removed from the miniatures and wasn’t totally happy with how I was able to frame the shots and control the depth of field. I was struggling to convey the drama that I wanted to in each shot and I am very happy with how the macro lens enables me to fill the image with mighty close up. I was able to position my lens a mere 2-3cm from the model and by playing with aperture and shutter speed, plus a bit of trial and error was able to choose what part of the image I wanted to be in focus. I will be going further in depth with some discussions of how I go about my miniature photography, equipment and sent up as well as image post production.
Imperial Guard Apocalypse Army – 4500+ Points
20 Mar
I have recently been working on expanding my Imperial Guard army list using a range of unpainted miniatures out of my bits box. I’ve fleshed out my 2000pt army to over 4500pts and have included a range of cool old miniatures that I acquired 8 years ago or so from a bloke I went to Uni with. He was relocating to Sydney and when he found out I played Games Workshop he dropped off a huge armload of his old miniatures. These miniatures ranged from original Rouge Trader multi part Space Marines to the Adeptus Titanicus board game.
I love these miniatures which date from the dawn of 40k and help give my army a real unique flavour, whilst also helping me boost it up to a sizable Apocalypse force. With these additions I can now field over 200 men, spread out between the following.
4 platoons
2 Storm Trooper Squads
Ogryns
Snipers
Rough Riders
16 Sentinels
Demolisher
Chimera
I am turning these original Space Marines into a Platoon of Imperial Guard Veteran’s equipped as grenadiers. They will be armed to the teeth with heavy flamers, flamers and meltaguns.
This collection of Adeptus Titanicus miniatures will be converted into a full company of Scout Sentinals, They will be split up into 5 or so squads with different weapons in each squad, hopefully giving me a wide range of tactical options and a company of 16 sentinels!
The Army is also going to include a few miniatures from the old Space Hulk board game, some early Ogryn models, some Necromunda gangers and more. Check out the gallery below to see out the full army broken down into squads and stay tuned for more updates as I work at converting, painting and playing with this new expanded army.
